Manage Your Power

You can automatically save power and money when using your computer by using these settings for the power management features of your computer.

Recommended Settings

We recommend following the power management settings for your computer:

  • Monitor/Display Sleep: Turn off after 15 minutes (or less)
  • Turn Off Hard Drives/Hard Disk Sleep: After 15 minutes (or less)
  • System Standby/Sleep: After 30 Minutes (or less)

How to change power management settings

  • Change the settings yourself

Use Presentation Mode to override power management

Giving a presentation or watching a movie on your computer?

Use Presentation Mode (Windows 7) to temporarily disable power management features.

  1. On the keyboard, hold down the Windows Key and press X. The Windows Mobility Center window opens.

  2. In the Presentation Settings area, click Turn On.

  3. The power save settings are now disabled for your current activity. When you shut down your laptop or close the lid, your normal settings will be turned back on.
